12,000 feet is more than 2 miles. Up. At this altitude, the air is clean, crisp – and thin. An incredible day in perfect bluebird conditions after a snowfall night, on my favorite mountain, where you feel like an astronaut and packed powder makes you feel like you can fly. The Aspen trees love it here and they cluster and stretch their branches upward, towards outer space as if they’re trying to reach heaven. The crystal-clear air looks more blue than blue. That’s what it looks like. That’s what it feels like up here…
